I didn't, but it's probably in some other language. Some sort of signal. I wouldn't be too worried about it.
The beginning is awesome. Anyone catch the shot of Jim Lee's Riddler when the DC Logo was being formed? I love the percussion motif, which has been present whenever the title comes up in the recent trailers and TV spots. And that shot of Batman on the building
(anyone notice that toward the end of that shot, they used the same music clip from the teaser where the strings all build up and then stop before Bale says "Me"?)
The first scene...wow. I'm having more faith in Michael Caine as Alfred now. This is definitely a touching scene and Guy Lewis is definitely one of the most talented actors added to the superior cast.
The Ducard scenes...pretty much what I had seen before on the WB online thing. Very cool; I can safely say that there won't need to be a Smallville-like Bruce Wayne series to cover his training because these scenes really cover a lot of what inspires Batman. I thought that Ducard's justice scene was interesting as well as the continuation of the line "Your parents' death was not your fault.......It was your father's." Great teaser. I want to see the rest of that. Liam Neeson is seriously gonna rock in this role.
The Bruce reunites with Alfred scene...wow. Love the dialogue.
The airplane scene though...I dunno, I thought it was a little too direct to the audience. Bale did alright, but it seemed so "I'm gonna have to be Batman, Alfred." It was a bit overdone in the scripting department.
The next scene, though, with Bruce and the bats...wow. And that music...I hope that's the music that's in the background. I also hope that they don't just cut from Bruce on the ground to Bruce already on his feet and rising. It should be a little slower transition to make it more powerful, IMO.
The Lucius-Bruce scene...Cool. That's all I can say. Great quick one-scene explanation of the Batmobile and its capabilities.
The Batcave scenes...wow I love the cave. It's so realistic, yet so Batcave-like. Alfred's historical exposition on the Batcave...I've wanted that to be in an origin film for years since it's a great explanation and I even had Alfred say that to Bruce in the origin script that I wrote. Nice to see that Goyer had a similar idea.
The waterfall scene...cool.
Bruce painting everything black...also cool, especially with the music.
Now...I didn't care much for the Rachel-gets-attacked scene (music was good though, hehe). It just looks fake and staged when she hits the first guy and then turns around to tazer the other guy. And the "That's right you BETTER run..." was kinda lame, but I can't imagine how Holmes could've delivered it any better; it's another small flaw in the script department.
But low and behold for every flaw this movie has, there's something else that makes you forget about it and just blows your mind. In this case it was....Christian Bale's Batman voice. It reminded me of Alec Baldwin's voice in The Shadow, which is awesome 'cause The Shadow character inspired Bob Kane's Batman anyways. I also didn't realize that you pronounce Falcone as Falconey. Good dialogue; the line "Someone who'll rattle the cages." works much better now that we see it in context.
Bat sonar signal from the boot? Right out of Year One. Very cool. And we see GORDON!! Awesome sequence that I think will work much better in context with the film. I'll save what I didn't like for later 'cause I think I won't have a problem with them when I watch the movie.
The Tumbler tramples the police car...
"I will go back to Gotham and I will fight." I dunno. Sounds kinda corny, but again I can't see how Bale could've delivered it any better. It's the most bad@$$ Bruce Wayne way he could've said it.
Thumbs up, this movie will rock ;D
