Is it me or...does Heath's makeup look like...makeup? Like the Joker is actually human underneath, and he just happens to have painted himself to look like a clown...instead of actually going through a vat of chemicals...
Oh dear.......
Pictures look awesome, but I'm beginning to get really afraid about the origin of the Joker...

Keep in mind ripper that the main thing about this series is that it is Batman based in reality. I mean, sure we all like the Joker's typical origin, but this I think is more interesting. He is still in this disfiguring incident and he sees this cut smile on his face and it leads him to want to have a clown face, which to be honest is more deranged than if he got that way after a chemical accident, I like it better because it shoqs that the insanity was always there, and not just put there by a chemical dip.

Eh, I don't take this as Batman based in reality, I never have. "Realism" or "Verisimilitude" or "the appearance of being real" doesn't mean it is real. Batman in reality is more like the Batman from Aronofsky/Miller's Year One script. A microwave emitter, fear gas, etc. makes this "realism" not "real". And I still don't like the idea. Maybe when I actually see the film, I'll like it, and I get what you're saying about him being insane without the chemicals, and I like that take, but still... He's the Joker! If he's just putting on makeup or "wearing a mask", how different does that make him from any other serial killer with a costume? Meh. Don't know, I currently don't like this approach, and I don't understand how it's ok for Harvey to get splashed in the face with acid, but not ok for the Joker to be dipped in a vat of chemicals. In fact, I simply do not want to see his origin at all...I would rather he just appear as he is, no explanation. But with the makeup, it seems we'll also get a bit of back-story on him, and one that makes him seem more human and "normal" than I'd like to see him. Btw, you speak of an incident that leaves him with this cut smile...? I haven't read the "Sides" or any spoiler material, so I've got no idea what you're talking about, so please don't tell me.

He accidentally makes out with a set of steak knives. Just joking.
