Was just in the thread regarding Katie Holmes having possibly alienated herself from the franchise and got thinking; I do not want the sequels to continue the trend started in the previous films. Bruce is depressed and *insert throw away love interest* saves him from himself only to be forgotten and replaced in the sequel. I think that an interesting twist for a female presence in Begins part deux would be a love interest for the Joker instead... Harley Quinn if you like or something enitirely new. Could lead to some very original story telling and leave Bruce/Batman's character unencumbered and open to further exploration.

I'm just going to throw this in there as I am reading Batman:Dark Detective, Silver St. Cloud.  For info: members.tripod.com/~ajeewa/batfam/silverstcloud.htmMaybe a little tweaking as she never acvtually finds out is identity, but I'm not very good when it comes to an idea for a love interest. I liked the character of Vikki Vale but she should remain as only part of the Burton series. |

From BOF: A new up-and-comer named Isla Fisher, winning raves for her role in 'The Wedding Crashers,' is someone Warner[Bros.] has their eyes on for the 'female love interest' role in the 'Batman Begins' sequel. She's an 'in' with the studio, as she did 'Scooby' for them a few years back. And no, Katie was never EVER going to be in the sequel. She was a 'one off' deal, so all the news about Cruise and her relationship ruining her chances is BS." Jett speculates that she could be playing a possible Silver St. Cloud. I don't think she fits the Talia mold at all. Catwoman...maybe. Everything that they could do with a "normal" love interest (as in not Talia or Catwoman, but a girl that doesn't wear a costume) has been done with Rachel, IMO. I also like Katie Holmes better. Isla's character in Wedding Crashers seems annoying, IMO. She's got red hair...Vicki Vale? Then again...they should stray away from making Batman Begins II look like a B89 remake. The basic storyline of Batman vs. Joker should be the only thing in common.  |

Another nice twist would be if Batman has little or no interaction with Bruce's lady love... aside from his being needed leaving the lady high and dry at times.I just feel that a female lead having a relationship with both Bruce Wayne and Batman for the fifth time will feel forced and formulaic (sp?). Surprisingly only Batman & Robin did not have this plot device. Even though the previous films are not part of Begins lore everyone has seen them.

IMO, the only love interests in these films should be:
- Rachel Dawes for BB and possibly beyond.
- Talia, whenever Ra's may return.
- Selina Kyle/Catwoman whenever WB realizes that she's a key part of the mythos and would work well in these films as opposed to that horrid film.
- Girls that aren't part of the plot, as cdncapedcrusader said. If the focus of the story is on so many characters, such as Batman, Alfred, Gordon, Dent, Joker, etc. it just might be better if they cut out the romance part for the film.

Well,I always stick up for Catwoman,in my eyes she was always a "worthy" love interest for Bruce AND Batman.Now that Katie is rumored to come back,the idea of the Joker killing her is very intriguing and would work as a tool to make it personal for Bats and to bring in Harvey Dent,to fill her place(assuming she took over after her boss died).But if they decide to have a new love interest(which would be bad,considering that Bruce just lost Rachel),I'd go for Selina and not Talia if they're not sure about bringing Ra's back.I mean,have the Catwoman/Batman odd relationship and develop the Selina/Bruce romance in No3(kinda).And,please,don't use Selina/Catwoman only for one film,PLEASE(I was 7 when I saw Batman Returns and the one thing I clearly remembered was that I wanted Selina back and hoped that the next Batman movie I'd see would have her in)!

I think they should keep Katie Holmes, and have her abducted and brainwashed by a crazed movie actor and Batman has to save her. Just an idea.  |

Regarding TheShadows post I 'd always thought Isla Fisher would make a good Lana Lang. Isla's middle name is Lang too coincidently.
In a perfect world I'd have Catwoman/Selina as his main love interest but having Halle Berry with her movie in recent memory I'd doubt that will ever be on the cards.
Editing my post:
I've just realised Vesper Fairchild had red hair. She was a late night Gotham radio host. I think she was killed by an assasin of Lex Luthor or something but that could be changed for the movie.
She could even be considered for Poison Ivy but I don't think she's tall enough. Not that height matters but I always think of Ivy as leggy.
